Areas of expertise:

I work in the Environmental Solutions unit as an expert in domestic and international projects dealing with geological environmental risks. My work includes e.g. mapping and research of geological environmental risks and processing of data into solutions for customers, development of GIS methods for geological risk assessment for land use planning, and other applied environmental geological and geochemical surveys.

Projects and publications:

Hydrogeology and the Global Change project looks for solutions for the groundwater questions related to changing climate and responds to the challenges brought by the global change by recognizing the global effects on groundwater conditions.

The main aim of the Viet MAR project is to enhance and support sustainable water management in Vietnam. The project improves the capacity of the Vietnamese partner organizations to secure future fresh-water resources with sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions such as Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR).

The EnviTox project is aiming at developing feasible recommendations and tools to ensure good quality environment in the area around the Krasny Bor toxic waste landfill. The project will provide up-to-date information on the state of the environment in the area around the Krasny Bor toxic waste landfill and will suggest feasible measures for its improvement.

The Biopeitto project aimed to develop biochar-based closure methods for mine tailings areas. The goal was to find ways to improve dry covers' long term durability, stability and to enable faster plant growth in tailings areas. The project also aimed in finding methods of preventing erosion as well as improving water balance and carbon and nutrient content of the cover structure.
