Geological Survey of Finland, Bulletin

The Bulletin of the Geological Survey of Finland publishes the results of scientific research that is thematically or geographically connected to Finnish or Fennoscandian geology, or otherwise related to research and innovation at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK). Articles by researchers outside GTK are also welcome. All manuscripts are peer reviewed.

The Bulletin series has been published since 1895, first under the French name Bulletin de la Commission Géologique de Finlande and since 1971 under the name Geological Survey of Finland, Bulletin. It is a scientific series meant for international distribution, published in English.

The editorial board of the Bulletin consists of GTK’s director of Science and Innovations, the science editor and 3–5 other Associate Professor-level members, of which at least one comes from outside Finland.

Bulletin is a digital publication but can also be printed if needed. The editorial board decides on possible printing on a case-by-case basis. All Bulletin papers are peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers to ensure their scientific quality.

The Bulletin can be published as

  • Special Issue
separate articles related to a specific topic
  • Research Report
a concise report on the scientific results of a specific project
  • Monograph
a coherent and independent scientific study or a summary article on a specific subject
  • Monograph-type Academic Dissertation

International Standard Serial Numbers: ISSN 0367-522X (print) and ISSN 2489-639X (online)

The Federation of Finnish Learned Societies has awarded GTK’s Bulletin their Label for peer-reviewed scholarly publications.

GTK is committed to responsible conduct of research and procedures for handling misconduct and fraud in science as described in the guidelines of the National Advisory Board on Research Ethics (TENK). The Bulletin requires all articles published under its name to follow responsible conduct of research.
