EU TAIEX Water Resource Management in Vietnam

Introduction

The objective of this EU TAIEX INTPA collaboration (EU Technical Assistance and Information Exchange, International Partnership) is the provision of technical and operational support on the implementation of Groundwater Protection Plan and Managed Aquifer Recharge align with the renewed Water Resources Law in Vietnam. To this aim, practical experiences and lessons as well as legislative requirements in groundwater management practices are shared between Finland and Vietnam during an expert mission to the Department of Water Resources Management (DWRM) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and an international workshop in Vietnam. Especially, the challenges in implementing the provisions on groundwater protection in the Water Resources Law into practice are discussed. In addition, necessary activities required for sustainable implementation on MAR are introduced based on the long experience of applying MAR in Finland. In addition, a study visit of DWRM experts to Finland is included to this EU TAIEX INTPA collaboration. In addition to the Geological Survey of Finland, the Centre for Economic Development, the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre) Southwest Finland, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam participate in this TAIEX collaboration.
