Introduction
EMODnet Ingestion is part of the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), which aims to improve the availability and usability of marine data.
EMODnet Ingestion aims to identify and reach new potential holders of public and private sector datasets (bathymetry, geology, physics, chemistry, seabed habitats, biology and/or human activities) that are not yet connected to existing marine data management systems.
The main goal of the project is to facilitate and enhance the flow and collection process of data, so that the owners of datasets can easily hand over their data for storage and open sharing, in accordance with the FAIR principles, as part of the information services and products offered by EMODnet.
Partners: European network of 46 organisations, including one international organisation. The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) participates in the project as the coordinator of EMODnet Geology.
The coordinator of the project: MARIS (Marine Information Service), The Netherlands
Funding authority: EU, The European Commission, European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) through contract “CINEA/EMFAF/2021/3.4.10/02/SI2.868290”.
