Digital Pilot Plant for the Future of Mineral Processing (MinDigiPilot)

Project research area
Circular Economy of Minerals Availability of Critical Raw Materials
Project duration
01.01.2022 - 31.12.2022

Introduction

The next investment stage of GTK Mintec’s development project will be to renew the current pilot plant and make it a digital pilot plant for the future of mineral processing. Planning for new research platforms to be added to the existing research infrastructure is underway, and both their implementation and final customer needs will be surveyed in this project. The objective of the MinDigiPilot project is to determine the requirements and content of a brand-new digital processing line extending to individual process equipment, including a cost estimate. The new digital processing line will contain multiple sub-processes such as crushing, grinding, various separation processes, thickening and filtering, and sub-processes required to study water recycling, purification and the circular economy will be integrated with the line. This thorough planning will ensure that the renewed pilot plan will be appropriate as a whole, and that it will meet customers’ future needs.

GTK will carry out the project, and it will be funded by REACT-EU/Regional Council of North Karelia.
