Introduction
Deep exploration BoostEd by Advanced exploration Technologies (DeepBEAT) is a Horizon Europe funded project coordinated by Helmholtz-Zentrum DresdenRossendorf. The project consortium consists of 11 partners from Germany, Finland, France, Czech Republic, and Canada.
The goal of the DeepBEAT project is to advance geochemical methods for the identification of deep-seated ore deposits, propelling Europe to the forefront of scientific innovation in the field. The aim of the project is to develop interdisciplinary, holistic, and sustainable exploration approach that combines deep geochemical knowledge to geophysics and social aspects. DeepBEAT aims to provide tools to comprehensively map available resources, facilitating informed planning for sustainable exploration and production practices aligned with the goals of responsible resource management.
Recognizing the crucial role of public support, DeepBEAT is dedicated to promoting awareness, aiming to engage scientists, exploration and mining companies, and stakeholders in meaningful interactions with the public.
GTK researches the mineralization system of vulcanic massive sulphide mineralization systems and compiles a practical workflow for their exploration a depth. Technical developments include utilization of drones in vegetation sampling and onsite geochemical methodologies for vegetation and sediment samples, and 3D mineral prospectivity mapping methods. The work is conducted together with the partners from Finland, FinnCobalt and IMA Engineering, and international partners. The study site is the Saramäki mineralization situated in the municipality of Polvijärvi, Eastern Finland.
