- Geoenvironment
- Project duration
- 01.01.2024 - 31.12.2024
Introduction
The rock aggregate investigation project of AKKE Central Ostrobothnia will be carried out in the entire region during 2024. The goal of the project is to specify and update previous rock aggregate and natural stone studies in the area, to secure the availability of the right quality of rock material in the area and to indicate the areas suitable for this. The work is based on the results of the Central Ostrobothnia Kivi project and the Central Ostrobothnia Poski project conducted in 2006–2008, as well as other rock aggregates and natural stone studies conducted in the region.
The plan is to map the current and future aggregate needs of the area. Fieldwork will be carried out on at least 70 outcrops and the strength properties of rock aggregates will be tested. In addition, natural stone potential will be evaluated at several sites.
The funding (80%) consists of the AKKE funding granted by the Central Ostrobothnia region (Allocation for supporting the sustainable growth and vitality of regions).
