Research Laboratory
GTK’s research laboratory is part of Finland’s national research infrastructure and it provides analysis and experts services in geology. The lab’s main areas of focus are isotope geology and applied mineralogy.

The lab consists of several units. Each unit has a field of specialisation and the people working in each unit are experts in the unit’s field.
The laboratory’s staff is internationally recognised for their expertise in analysis and research of geological materials. High-quality research is supported by the lab’s versatile selection of modern research equipment.
The lab’s method development activities are customer- and partner-oriented and a central part of the lab’s operations.
Customers from multiple fields
The research laboratory lends its expertise to many co-operative projects, GTK’s internal research projects and commissions from external customers.
GTK’s external customers include ore prospecting, construction and consulting businesses, universities, other research institutions and private customers as well as the energy, water supply, mining and refining industries.
