Areas of expertise:

I am a peatland scientist and forester concentrating on peatland ecology and restoration, especially in the tropics. I have done field research in Indonesia on natural and degraded peatlands, coordinated university education cooperation, lectured, and worked for wood procurement in Finland. My recent research topics include vegetation ecology, vegetation restoration, microtopography, plant roots and peat properties. In the coming projects I will concentrate on wide array of peat and peatland management related questions including peatmoss farming and carbon sensitive land use planning.
