Back to the Moon with Geological Survey of Finland GTK – Espoo Day 2023

Date: 25.08.2023 - 25.08.2023Location: Geological Survey of Finland GTK, Vuorimiehentie 5, Espoo

For permanent habitation on the Moon, many challenges need to be tackled. Where do we get water and oxygen? How to grow food? How do you make a base? How to make different tools?

Geological Survey of Finland GTK has participated in studies regarding both space and the Earth – geology is needed in a lot of places.

We welcome you to come to visit us on Espoo Day Friday August 28, 2023, at 12-17.00.

You will learn what we are working on now and you get to explore the Geo exhibition with our guides. The exhibition shows how Earth was formed and the impacts of geology in our society. There you can also find an actual Moon stone.

Research Professor Alan Butcher will make mini lectures on the research done around the Moon by GTK and Open University (OU) in the UK.

Time: Fri August 25, 2023, at 12.00-17.00.

The Geo exhibition is in Finnish, but guides can make a short tour in English. The mini lectures are in English.
